SECTION 6: MECHANICAL INSTALLATION
Mounting Procedures
NOTE: Installing multiple cages, one above the other is permitted as long as proper ventilation is maintained. Refer to the Equipment Ventilation section in this manual for further details.
Introduction
Perform the following procedures to mechanically install the Nucleus Advanced Control station equipment cages. Note that some cabinets may be stacked, one atop the other, to minimize space requirements. (Refer to Note.)
The standard and high power Nucleus Advanced Control stations have different mounting procedures. Refer to the mounting procedures for your type of station.
Mounting Nucleus Advanced Control Station Cage(s) in an EIA Rack
Before mounting Nucleus equipment, ensure that the rack is securely fas¬tened to the floor at its base.
Nucleus Advanced Control Paging Stations intended for field mounting in an EIA rack require standoff brackets to center the cage within the rack mounting rails. Option X153, which includes mounting brackets and slotted screws must be ordered. Mount the cage(s) as described in Figure 6—8.
Note that when installing multiple stations, it is recommended that the first station be mounted in the lowest possible position in the rack, then continue building towards the top with the additional stations. Mounting screws (M6 x 1.0 tapping) are provided with each station to secure the cage flanges to the standoff brackets.
